Why Choose DLW Accounting?
As a small practice, we are able to provide a much more personal service, working closely with our clients to help them determine what is the best – and simplest – way to manage their finances.
Getting to Know You
Starting with a free consultation, we establish the exact requirements for each client and provide a fixed price for this service. Whether you just need help with a personal self-assessment tax return, support for your year-end company accounts and corporation tax or assistance with your monthly accounting requirements such as payroll and VAT, you will know up front how much this will cost and can budget accordingly.
After a simple onboarding process, our clients can sit back and relax, knowing that everything is in hand. With regular check-ins and tax reviews, we ensure that there are no surprises along the way and that our clients feel completely in control. We do our best to avoid using confusing accounting jargon to ensure our clients feel reassured rather than befuddled.
Accounting Software
We have experience using different software packages which means we can be flexible to each client’s individual needs. We currently work with QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho, Sage and KashFlow and are open to whichever software you prefer. We can also help you find a suitable application if you have never used accounting software before. If you prefer to keep everything in Excel, that is fine too – we have never met a spreadsheet that we don’t like.
Business Accounting
For established businesses and individuals, changing to a new accountant can seem daunting. We will work with your previous accountant to ensure a smooth transition and once the transfer is complete, we will focus on providing you with an efficient service that you can trust.
For start-ups and individuals new to the contracting world, we can make recommendations that are tailored to your type of business, making things simple right from the very beginning.
Whatever your accounting needs, you can choose to work with DLW and enjoy a stress-free partnership.
Recent Client Feedback
10/10 recommendation for DLW Accounting.
The knowledge, insight & support goes well above and beyond what I expected would be available. With fantastic knowledge around HMRC, VAT & QuickBooks Online the team made all aspects of accounting for Black Coffee Marketing simpler & more efficient.
For someone with no knowledge of this area the support from the team has been phenomenal.I can’t recommend DLW highly enough. Using them has made the end of year tax process much easier and less stressful. They’ve given great input into changing my bookkeeping process where I was stuck in a rut and now it’s much simpler.
Any issues I do have, I know they are only a phone call away. Thanks guys, I appreciate your work.Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions we get asked about our accountancy services.
The short answer is: yes, it is usually easy. However, there are times when a handover could be more complex and will require better planning.
- Firstly, if your accountant is involved in key business decisions, then a longer transition could be expected to give your new accountant time to better understand your business and the required level of support. If your current accountant provides a more routine service, it will be simple to conduct a quick transition.
- Secondly, you will need to consider the timing. Switching accountants at the start of a new financial year is a good time to make the change, especially if your accountant provides a payroll service. If you do want to make the switch mid-way through a financial year, this may require more of your time to provide information at the time of handover.
- Finally, you will need to consider the type of accounting package you are currently using. If you are using a bespoke package owned by your accountant, new software would need to be selected and set up for your company. If you are using a commercially available accounting package, the transfer will be quicker and easier.
Fortunately for small businesses, there are a number of excellent accounting packages to choose from. Based on our experience we recommend QuickBooks, but we also have clients using Xero, Sage, Zoho and even old school spreadsheets! The most important thing to consider when selecting accounting software is the fit for your specific type of business. The good news is, the accounting packages listed above all have the option to tailor requirements to your needs.
There is no legal requirement to have an accountant however there are many clear advantages. There are many factors to consider, including the type of business you operate, your knowledge of the legally required tax submissions and your time/availability. Accounting for a limited company is generally more complex than for a sole trader due to the requirement to pay corporation tax and file accounts with Companies house.
