How DLW came to be

As former colleagues, we have both seen firsthand how unnecessarily complicated the accounting world can be. With a vision of simplifying accounting for small businesses, contractors and sole traders, we decided to contribute to world peace by de-stressing the nation one business owner at a time.

All about Mark

I have worked as an accountant for over ten years and became a contractor in 2017. Even as an accountant, I found the tax system difficult to navigate and had to deal with a few tax surprises along the way.

I decided to make it my mission to unpick the layers of complexity and simplify the accounting.

I soon realized that part of the problem was the jargon, the many different tax forms that are given a number and not a name and a lack of simple explanations.

This discovery and a long-term desire to start my own company led me to partnering with the legendary Penny Wilson and DLW Accounting was born.

All about Penny

I started my career as a personal assistant, delighting in making the world a more organised place. It wasn’t until I started being responsible for budgets though that I realised what I was missing out on and that finance was where my heart truly lay.

Working for a multi-national organisation, I was able to transition into a finance role and completed my studies to become a CIMA Qualified Accountant. 

Since completing my qualification, I have been lucky enough to work in many different areas of finance, including budgeting, reporting and pricing.

Having always wanted to start a business, I was thrilled when Mark came knocking at my door looking for a business partner. Suffice to say, I jumped at the opportunity!
